On the page called by the.load(), I have the following:

When I alert(data.somevar), it returns undefined.
When I do a console.log(data.somevar), the value that gets returned is the value from the page that was loaded.
I don’t want to call data.somevar, I want to call pagedata.somevar.
In the console, I see that I have a JavaScript error being thrown on the line
var pagedata = $(“.pagedata”).load(‘./pagedata.php’);

Which says that “.pagedata” is undefined.
If I were to call.pagedata directly, it would find it, but I want to call it via.load().
Is there a way to say, “Oh, if you call me, then call the.load() function on the value returned?


You could to call your function, and then.load() to load in the data from the other page:

var pagedata = $(“.pagedata”).load(‘./pagedata.php’).call(this, function(pagedata) {
